Search for several things at once

Type as many terms as you like, one per line. FindIt returns only the files that contain all of them, so a search for a customer name, an invoice number and a date lands on the one file you were thinking of instead of hundreds that mention just one.

Rule out the noise

Tell FindIt what you don’t want. Exclude any file that contains certain words, skip file names that match a pattern, or limit the search to files that match a pattern, like *.sql or *.config.

Look inside Office documents

Most text search tools see a Word or Excel file as unreadable binary data and pass right over it. Turn on Office search and FindIt reads the text inside .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files, along with the older .doc, .xls and .ppt formats.

FindIt searches many files in parallel, using every core your computer has to offer. It recommends a setting based on your machine, and you can adjust it in Options. Results appear as they are found, so you can start reading before the search is done. On a PC with a modern SSD, FindIt typically reads more than a million lines per second.

See every match in context

Click a result to preview the file with your search terms highlighted. Right-click to open it in your default editor or one you choose, jump to the folder that contains it, or copy the results to the clipboard.

Save the searches you repeat

Save any search, including its folder, terms and options, to a .fit file. Double-click the file later to run it again, or pick it from the Recent searches menu. FindIt also remembers the folders you search most.

Requirements

Windows 7 or higher. .NET Framework 4.8, which is already included in current versions of Windows.
